Hailing from various regions of South African, Spirits Rejoice 1978 classic album has been re-released by the steadfast Frederiksberg Records. This album touches on all of my jazz sensibilities. Bouncing from spiritual jazz and straight ahead to funk jazz and fusion. The musicianship that the band and producer Greg Cutler has captured is one that I would put against any of your favorite funk jazz albums of the late 70s. Lord knows there are some heavy hitters from that era. But trust me, the vibes are on point. This record will be getting heavy rotation in my sets and in the crib. Rejoice Indeed!
